The Term Media Representation

Representation refers to the construction of any medium of aspects of reality such as people, places, objects, events.

The term refers to the processes involved as well as its produces. For instance in the relation to the keys of identity- class, age, gender and ethnicity. Representation involves not only how identities are represented or constructed by media but also by people whose identities are also different.
The media can be very bias and offend stereotypical in creating certain individuals identities. These are presented through different types of media such as magazines, news,TV and radios .For example how young teenagers are represented in Films. " Into the Hood" suggest that all teenagers wear hoodies and hold a criminal record. We know that this is not necessary true but it is how the media construct this identity that makes us think that way .
