Reflection on my Media Bridging Unit
When I first got handed the bridging Unit I was dreading it as I knew it would be alot of hard work, especially because I had know idea how to even begin creating my own Blog, as its not a website I have used or come across before. However when I realised the amount of support from the resources given to me ,I stopped panicking and calmed down. As I was reading through each Resource I found them very useful in making me understand the work more clearly, therefore I was able to enjoy making my own Blog and experiencing new websites. My favourite part about the Bridging Unit was writing and researching about my favourite TV Drama. It was fun, interesting and different from my other bridging Unit work which was mainly to write about a topic that didn't really interest me. So it was nice to do something practical/visual.

Rachel Green -
Jennifer Aniston portrays Rachel Green, a fashion enthusiast and Monica Geller's best friend from childhood. Rachel first moves in with Monica in season one after nearly marrying Barry Farber whom she realizes she does not love. Rachel and Ross Geller are later involved in an on again off again relationship throughout the series. Rachel dates other men during the series, such as an Italian neighbour, Paolo in season one, her client Joshua Bergin in season four, her assistant Tag in season seven, and Joey Tribbiani in season ten. Rachel’s first job is as a waitress at the coffee-house Central Perk, but she later becomes an assistant buyer at Bloomingdale's in season three, and a buyer at Ralph Lauren in season five. Rachel and Ross have a daughter named Emma and at the end of series 10 Rachel realises it has always been Ross she loved.
Ross Geller-
David Schwimmer portrays Ross Geller, Monica Geller's older brother, a paleontologist working at the Museum of Natural History, and later a professor of paleontology at New York University. Ross is a sweet-natured man of good humor, although he is often clumsy and socially awkward. Ross is involved in an on-again-off-again relationship with Rachel throughout the series. Ross has three failed marriages during the series: Rachel, Emily, and Carol, a lesbian who is also the mother of his son, Ben (Cole Sprouse). His failed love life is potentially due to his paranoia and jealousy in relationships and his divorces become a point of humor within the series. He and Rachel have a daughter by the end of season eight and they confess that they are still in love with each other in the final episode
The Term Media Representation
Representation refers
to the construction of any medium of aspects of reality such as people, places,
objects, events.
The term refers to the
processes involved as well as its produces. For instance in the relation to the
keys of identity- class, age, gender and ethnicity. Representation
involves not only how identities are represented or constructed by media but also by people whose identities are also
different.
The media can be very bias and offend stereotypical in creating certain individuals identities. These are presented through different types of media such as magazines, news,TV and radios .For example how young teenagers are represented in Films. " Into the Hood" suggest that all teenagers wear hoodies and hold a criminal record. We know that this is not necessary true but it is how the media construct this identity that makes us think that way .
Three resources I found useful and why
1) The first resource I found useful was "How to create a blog on Blogger". The video was extremely successful at clearly explaining step by step in how to create my first blog. This particular resource was a way of visual learning , the video itself wasn't dull and they managed to keep it short and simple.
2) The second resource I found helpful when creating my blog was the "Introduction To TV Drama". This link cleared things up for me as i was still unsure of what the task was asking me to do , but due to the clear detailed information i was able to understand and carry out the work
3) The final resource i found useful was the "Annotating A Magazine Cover" . This recourse helped me explain the use of key term when analysing a magazine over and also showed me how to present my work.
